How do you clean guillotine glass? Inside, outside, rails and high floors

03.11.2026 5 min read SkyArt Group

Clean the inner face of guillotine glass from inside by lowering the panels; for the outer face, lower the panels step by step and clean each one in turn. On high floors, choose a wipe-from-inside guillotine model instead of leaning out.

In short

Because guillotine glass panels move up and down, you can bring each pane to a comfortable height for cleaning. The inner faces are always easy to wipe from inside; for the outer faces the panels are lowered one by one. On high floors we recommend the wipe-from-inside guillotine model so nobody has to lean out. As an authorised Albert Genau manufacturing dealer, SkyArt Group makes and installs these systems to measure in Istanbul.

Step by step

  1. Stop the movement: set the panels where you want them and put the remote away so it is not pressed by accident.
  2. Inner faces: lower the panels fully; the inside of the glass is easy to wipe from indoors.
  3. Outer faces: lower the panels step by step so each outer face becomes reachable in turn. Do not lean out for parts you cannot reach.
  4. Rails and brush seals: remove dust and leaf debris from the side channels with a dry brush or vacuum nozzle; dusty seals insulate less well.
  5. Final check: run the panels fully open and closed once to make sure nothing is left in the rails.

Wipe-from-inside model for high floors

On ground floors and garden levels the outer faces can also be reached from outside. In apartments, especially on high floors, leaning out to clean is dangerous. In that case ask for the wipe-from-inside guillotine model during the survey so the outer faces can also be cleaned from indoors. It is much easier to state your cleaning needs at the start than to change the system later.

Take care while cleaning

  • Do not leave cloths, buckets or chairs in the path of moving glass; on chain-driven systems this can make the chain jump.
  • Do not open covers or dismantle the system; user intervention voids the warranty. Call service if you notice a problem.
  • If something is stuck in a rail, stop the movement and remove it first.

Frequently asked questions

How do you clean the outside of guillotine glass?

Lower the panels step by step and clean the outer face of each panel in turn. On high floors do not lean out; choose a wipe-from-inside guillotine model.

How are guillotine glass rails cleaned?

Remove dust and leaf debris from the side channels with a dry brush or vacuum nozzle; do not flood the channels or pull out the seals.

What is a wipe-from-inside guillotine?

A guillotine model we recommend for high floors, where the outer glass faces can also be cleaned from indoors; ask for it during the survey.

What should I watch out for when cleaning?

Keep the remote away, keep objects out of the glass path, avoid abrasives and never dismantle the system; a dismantled system loses its warranty.
