If guillotine glass does not work, check the fuse first, then the remote battery; the battery is the most common cause (usually a CR2032, lasting about a year). If the motor hums but the glass does not move, it is a belt or motor issue and needs service.
Short answer
If a guillotine glass does not respond at all, check in this order: 1) the fuse, 2) the remote battery. In the field the remote battery is the most common cause. If the motor makes a sound, the problem is the belt or motor and service is needed.
Check order
| Step | Check | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Power and fuse: has the balcony circuit tripped? | Reset it; if it trips again, call service. |
| 2 | Remote battery | Replace it (usually a round CR2032). |
| 3 | Obstruction in the glass path | Remove it; do not force the glass. |
| 4 | Motor sounds but glass does not move | Belt or motor issue: call service. |
The remote battery
Guillotine remotes usually take a round CR2032 battery that lasts about a year; we recommend a good-quality one. When it dies the remote does nothing and the glass seems broken.
A remote is paired once. A spare remote cannot be paired in advance; if a remote breaks or is lost, our service team pairs a new one.
What about a power cut?
Guillotine glass cannot be opened by hand during a power cut because the panels are belt-driven by the motor. It works normally when power returns; a backup power supply (UPS) is recommended. See can guillotine glass fall? and motor and faults.
If the motor fails
Guillotine motors rarely fail. When one does, it is not repaired but replaced on site. Adjustment and motor work is a service job; do not open the system yourself, as that can void the warranty.
As an authorised Albert Genau manufacturing dealer, SkyArt Group services guillotine glass in Istanbul. If battery and fuse do not fix it, leave a service request. If the glass does not close fully, see this article.
