A bioclimatic pergola sets shade gradually with aluminium louvres and stops rain; a fabric pergola (awning) is lighter and simpler but must be retracted in rain, snow and strong wind. Your way of using the space decides.
Both give shade, but they work differently
A bioclimatic pergola uses motor-driven aluminium louvres. A fabric retractable pergola belongs to the awning group: fabric is extended or retracted by a mechanism, for example an articulated awning or cassette awning.

Which to choose
- Bioclimatic pergola: if a restaurant, café or villa terrace must also work in rain and you want a permanent, regular roof.
- Fabric awning: if summer shade is enough and budget comes first.
Closing the sides with zip screens or guillotine glass extends use in both. For more options see bioclimatic pergola, rolling roof or glass roof?. Ask for a free survey; we do not quote a price without measuring.
